Alternate approach for calculating the optimum viscous damper size

This study explores the optimal viscous damper size required to prevent a five-story building from colliding with rigid wall. It comprises two parts, both based on novel application of wavelet coherence method (WCoh). In first, impact incidents were estimated using WCoh method, and in second, an approach for optimizing was proposed. A validation model used verify proposed good agreement among total sizes observed. Nonlinear dampers have also investigated due their lower damping force than produce. has shown that can be identify seismic pounding.
